Too loud to be happy

In India its general tendency of people, I have noticed, to put up big loud-speakers and play loud music and dance (!). The reason could be anything. It would be because of Ganpati, or a political win or ‘Jayanti’ of great people or you just name it and it would be a reason somewhere to celebrate. And I wonder what makes people to play loud music? Are they really celebrating?

Yesterday in my society, there was a function of some Mr. XXX (Name Changed) and the music was loud and up till 11:30 PM until there was police intervention. IT was up even after the police left (!?) and society members had to intervene. I am still not able to understand, happiness at the cost of what? What would make you happy if the people around you feel you are not behaving? I was surprised to see all families gathered there and dancing with small kids. A good happy family function with loud music was a real turn down for me.

What makes you play the music loud in the night to disturb others? Why Dj’s in family functions? What happiness you get after listening to the songs like ‘Munni badnam hui..’ or ‘Sheela ki jawani..’ loud in public?  That too post 11 PM in a residential area?

There are some things I will never understand and I guess public will continue playing loud music on the streets and/or in residential societies.  I am not against it for I see its so commonly accepted, but I am against playing loud music post 10 PM personally. Your happiness should not cause trouble or uneasiness to others is all I want to ensure.
